He's made his name, and earned big money, by growling his way through a string of hardman action roles in the likes of The Transporter, Crank and The Expendables. Now, according to Deadline, Jason Statham is planning to get in touch with his lighter side by signing up for a comedywith the Bridesmaids team of actor Melissa McCarthy and director Paul Feig.
Statham is set to join the cast of spy comedy Susan Cooper, which will mark McCarthy and Feig's third film together, after the police comedy The Heat. Susan Cooper was apparently inspired as a comedic riposte to the 007 adventure Casino Royale, and Statham will play an agent colleague of McCarthy's – presumably a straight-arrow counterpart to Sandra Bullock in The Heat.
Statham, meanwhile, has no plans to abandon his bread-and-butter day job: he has just finished filming The Expendables 3 and is shortly to begin work on Fast and Furious 7.
